Beacon Hill resident assaulted in home-invasion robbery
A North Beacon Hill resident reported being tied-up and pistol-whipped in a home-invasion robbery on Wednesday night.
Here’s how the Seattle Police Department reported the incident:
Preliminary investigation indicates that on August 17th at approximately 9:00 p.m. the victim was at his residence in the 2100 block of Beacon Avenue South. A female in her 20’s (suspect #4) knocked on the victim’s front door. The victim answered the door and suspect #4 asked him if she could use his phone. Shortly thereafter three male suspects forced their way through the door and began assaulting the victim in his front room.
The victim was overpowered, tied up and pistol-whipped. His house was ransacked and his wallet, a laptop computer, and prescription drugs were taken. All four suspects fled the scene and remain at large.
The only suspect descriptions available at this time are: two Hispanic males in their late 20’s, one black male in his late 20’s, and one Hispanic female in her 20’s.

The last weekend in August will be a musical one on Beacon Hill!
First, on Friday, August 26, the Beacon Blues & BBQ will bring blues music by the Smokin’ J’s to the Garden House, along with BBQ, beer, and wine available for sale. The show is at 7:30 p.m., and general admission is $10. ROCKiT space members and kids under 12 get in free. Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m., and is $12 (including a beverage). Dinner and the show together are $22. Guests can come for either or both. The Garden House is located at 2336 15th Ave. S.
ROCKiT space will be hosting a clothing drive, so bring new or gently used clothing to donate to Wellspring Family Services.

BBQ and car stolen at 14th and Hanford
Neighbor Tiffany sent us the following warning:
“I thought I would warn my fellow Beacon Hill neighbors about the recent incidents that have occurred at my house (on 14th Ave. S. and S. Hanford) in the last 3 days. First our BBQ was stolen out of our backyard (in broad daylight mind you, around 3 or 4 p.m. on Monday, 8/15), then last night (8/18) between 2–6 a.m., one of our cars was stolen from in front of our house. I have lived on Beacon Hill for the past 2+ years (my family—dad, aunts, uncles, grandparents—have lived on Beacon Hill for 40+ years) and have never had any problems like this so close together (besides two of our cars’ tires getting punctured when everyone else’s did a few months ago).
“So in an effort to warn everyone, I wanted to advise that people chain down their BBQs and set the alarms on their cars, so that no one else has to go through this.”
Cyclists enjoy neighborhood bicycle ride
The folks at Seattle Neighborhood Greenways have posted a great set of photos of last Saturday’s Beacon B.I.K.E.S./Spokespeople neighborhood bicycle ride. The ride began and ended at The Station on 16th Ave. S., and took a 5 mile route around Jefferson Park, down Beacon Avenue, on the Chief Sealth trail, and back up through Jefferson Park to The Station. Beacon Hill artist to show new work
Beacon Hill artist and architect Shea Bajaj is having a solo showing of his new paintings at Traver Gallery. The show opens on August 25 and will run through October 2. An opening reception will be held on August 25 from 5-8 p.m.
The Traver Gallery website describes Shea’s work:
“Shea Bajaj strives to visually represent a form of altered state of consciousness in his work—the experience of being so intensely focused on an object or experience, that everything else seems to dissolve.”

Rizal Park Music and Arts Fest this Sunday
The 3rd Annual Rizal Park Music and Arts Fest is happening this Sunday, August 21, from noon until 8 p.m. at Dr. Jose Rizal Park on North Beacon Hill. The event will feature local Filipino and Pacific Asian musicians and artists, along with Pacific Islands cuisine from vendors such as Beacon Hill’s own Inay’s. Activities for kids are also planned.

Have you seen Pushkin?
Neighbor Tricia Pham writes to let us know that her dog, Pushkin, disappeared around 3:30 on August 15. Pushkin is a female Pomeranian, small, with light brown and white fur. She was not wearing a collar with a tag on, but instead she had a red body collar with white paw prints.
Tricia adds, “She’s very friendly, but sick as well. She needs her medications every week. She is loved and missed.”

It’s Election Day! Mail in your ballot today
You may also vote in person at one of the accessible voting centers, which are open to all voters. This is what you need to do if you’ve lost or damaged your ballot. The nearest voting center is at Union Station, 401 South Jackson St.
