The sunset from the Beacon station elevators is pretty impressive and catches a lot of people by surprise when coming up out of the tunnel. A few people have given me funny looks when they see me put on my sun glasses getting on at the bottom. It’s fun to watch them spill out in a daze at the top.
What is planned for the empty fenced in area just south of the station? Definitely an eyesore in contrast to the landscaped station. Would be great if it was a park because then you could have station security patrol. On a seperat note, I’m getting kind of tired of seeing the little park at Beacon Ave. & Stevens taken over by people drinkging and/or selling drugs.
It is up to the people who own that property. Sound Transit doesn’t own it, they just rented it. I am not sure if it’s been turned back over to the owners yet.
Given the current state of the economy, I suppose it could be a while before any development begins, but I can’t imagine the owners want it to sit fallow for too long.
Regarding Stevens Place Park, my suggestion is: Use it. Come to the park. Play games. Read a book. Chat with your friends. If no one uses it but the druggies, it will only have druggies in it. So if you care about the park, use it.
