On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Monday, January 19th, a planting party will be hosted by the neighborhood group SONG at the Hanford Steps at South Hanford Street & 25th Avenue South.

Party participants are encouraged to bring gloves, shovels, trowels, raingear (just in case), and snacks!

If you can spare some time and labor sometime between 10am and 5pm (particularly between 2 and 5), the Steps and your neighbors near them would be mighty appreciative.

The original invitation mail from Jorji and a map is after the break.
Thanks, Jorji!

Hi SONG neighbors,

Please come to the big planting work party we’re having on Monday, Jan. 19th. It’s MLK Day, and also a national day of service this year. We’d love to have your help putting in a beautiful load of plants, much of which was donated to our neighborhood by a nursery in Olympia. It will be an even bigger planting day than the one we had Nov. 8th, and that was BIG. We’re hoping to get all the plants in our design plan in the ground on the 19th! We’ve got some City Year volunteers joining us to help, which is great.

Also, if anyone can bring a snack to share, that’d be welcome and sure to be gobbled up. Please let me know if you plan to bring something so we can make sure we’ve got what we need. We’ll make sure there are some yummy things to eat.

Bring your gloves, shovels, trowels and raingear!

When: Monday, Jan. 19th
Time: anytime between 10am and 5pm, although we’ll especially need you from 2pm to 5pm.
Where: top of the Hanford Steps, 25th Ave. and Hanford

Thanks, and see you there!
Jorji
