In the last few days on the hill, some people worked on neighborhood issues, and some had fun at the Beacon Hill Festival, while only a few blocks away, others slept in the park. Photos in this post are by Jason unless otherwise noted.
These photos and more are part of the Beacon Hill Blog photo pool on Flickr. Thanks to all the wonderful photographers who have contributed to the pool!
We recently posted a couple of photos of the view from Beacon Hill in 1959 and today. Burr Cline (Cleveland High School class of ’47) contacted us with a similar photo taken in 1949, and this one’s in color! There are fascinating details in it — billboards, cars, buildings that still exist and buildings that don’t. The color is amazingly true for a 60 year old image.

Thanks to Burr for sending us this wonderful view!

Though it’s not quite spring on the calendar yet, there’s not much doubt that spring is here on Beacon Hill. Daffodils, cherry trees, and bluebells are blooming all over the hill, and the green leaves are starting to come out on the deciduous trees. This colorful crocus is one of many around the Hill.
Perhaps spring is inspiring many Beacon Hill photographers. Drew Sellers, inspired by artwork on the wall at El Quetzal, recently did a photoshoot to “recreate” a Diego Rivera print. Laisha Montiel, daughter of El Quetzal owners Juan and Elena, modeled in a white dress, holding a bouquet of daisies.
