The St. George School community invites all and sundry to their Annual Holiday Bazaar from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sunday, December 8. The bazaar will include more than 30 vendors, a bake sale, food for breakfast and lunch, kids’ activities, and a raffle. Admission is free. St. George School is at 5117 13th Ave. S.
Santa Claus will bring holiday lights to an often-dark corner of the neighborhood at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 1, when Santa and Beacon Hill neighbors light the community tree at the corner of 15th Avenue S. and Beacon Avenue South.
The tree lighting isn’t the only festive activity — the event will also include caroling, dancing, and holiday treats, including specials at local businesses.
During the event, donations to the Red Cross for Typhoon Haiyan relief will be accepted at Inay’s.

This Friday, November 22 and Sunday, Nov. 24, at 7 p.m., Jo Miller “Tells a Tall Tale” from her memoir, Never Holler Whoa at a Horserace. The show at the Garden House, 2336 15th Ave South, will include music and storytelling, and a reunion with former Burly Roughnecks bandmates Dave Keenan and Nova Devonie (aka Miles and Karina) for a country-swing jam.

You’ll probably recognize most of the locations in the video for “Just Another Day” by emcees Gabriel Teodros, Mic Flont, and Ka.lil, vocalist Jill Laxamana and producer Uce Wayne. This updated version of Queen Latifah’s song is a tribute to Beacon Hill, featuring neighborhood landmarks including Red Apple, The Station, Jefferson Park and Fou Lee Market. The video was directed by Eric Miller and Mic Flont.
The Seattle Department of Transportation will close one lane of South Graham Street from Beacon Avenue South to 23rd Avenue South on November 19-20 for paving. One lane will be kept open with flaggers on hand to assist traffic through the area in alternating directions. Work may be rescheduled or cancelled if the weather doesn’t cooperate.
Beacon Hill Merchants will hold their monthly luncheon on Tuesday, November 19 at Inay’s Restaurant (2503 Beacon Ave. S.) from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. All business owners and employees, including home-based businesses, are welcome to attend and share news and Beacon Hill events, trade business cards and flyers, and enjoy lunch.

A crime prevention specialist from Seattle City Police will be meeting with residents of mid-Beacon Hill at Maple Elementary, 4925 Corson Ave. S. on Wednesday, November 20, 6:30 – 7:45 p.m.
We will be learning about:
- Recent crimes in the neighborhood
- The new marijuana laws – what’s legal, what’s not legal, and who to call if you have concerns.
- How to recognize and report suspicious activity
- Basic crime prevention techniques, and more.
Refreshments will be served. All are welcome!
Seattle Police report that at about 1:30 Sunday morning, someone broke into a portable classroom and set it on fire at Asa Mercer Middle School. Police say that the suspect or suspects probably stole a number of computers from the portable, which is the media arts and yearbook classroom. Detectives are investigating the incident, which caused about $15,000 in damage.
